From the West via Mass Pike Eastbound (Interstate 90)
Take the Allston/Cambridge exit–a LEFT exit and a 50 cent toll. Follow signs for Cambridge. At the first set of lights, turn left onto Storrow Drive West. Continue on Storrow Drive to the Harvard Square exit. (*) Cross the bridge, and continue straight ahead on JFK Street into Harvard Square. At the 4th light you will see Nini’s Corner newsstand directly in front of you–turn left onto Brattle Street. Get into the right lane immediately and bear right, following Brattle Street. You will pass the American Repertory Theatre on your left. Take the next right onto James Street, a short block. Turn right onto Mason Street, left at the lights onto Garden Street. First Church is the large stone church on your left, directly opposite the Cambridge Common.
From the West via Route 2 Eastbound
Towards the end of Route 2, pass Exit 60, and then a bowling alley. Take the exit bearing left for East 16/North 3. Route 16 will snake left for 1/4 mile to a traffic light. At the light, turn right onto Mass. Ave. Continue straight on Mass. Ave., passing through many lights, Porter Square, and finally coming to Harvard Square. You will see the Cambridge Common on your right. When you arrive at the far end of the Common at the traffic triangle, bear right around the Common onto Garden Street. The church is two blocks down on the left, next to the Sheraton Commander Hotel.
Parking is NOT impossible!
On Sundays there are several options. You can park in the neighborhoods around the church as parking permits are not needed on Sundays in Cambridge. We recommend Berkeley Street, Brattle Street, and the parking spaces all around the Common. Metered spaces are free on Sundays; no coins needed. You may also use several limited spots immediately in front of the church building (on Sundays only).
